DESTINATION CATALUNYA

I would like to start this story with one of the Countries dearests to me, in particular a region called Catalunya.
Where the words Gothia & Launia joined to give rise to the “Land of the Goths”.
Sorry for the “onomastic moment”, but I personally think that this name also sounds great, don’t you think? Certainly, when I mention the name of this region, the city of Barcelona will come to your mind, but some other small towns and villages deserve a visit too. Perhaps … now you are wondering what these cities are, do not worry, I will mention a couple of them during my story. I have always preferred to travel by plane because it takes the least time to reach a destination, but we decided to set foot on the Spanish northeastern coast across the sea for that trip. Well yes! Back in 2006, my travel companion was reluctant to fly so we booked a seat on the ship that brought us to Barcelona, departing from Civitavecchia.

A photo was taken on the bow of the ship…yeah I know…my dress style was a little weird XD

September 2006

This was my first long trip by ship, in early September, a low season actually, in fact, the boat was almost deserted, but two other groups were traveling with us and I must say that it is not a bad experience at all; the journey will last about 20 hours, but if you are in a good company, the time will pass pleasantly, besides looking at the horizon you will feel like a pirate, ready to the adventure! Like Jack… Sparrow, not the Dawson (the one from Titanic)… I would never wish anyone to freeze in the sea. Especially me, who cannot even swim 😅… I had planned to enroll last year in the swimming course, but alas, with the development of the pandemic, I had to give up for the umpteenth time, but for the future, I hope that the swimming shorts still fitting me 😆. Going back on the trip, I should say one more thing in favor of traveling via sea. The quietness during the night! Being on the bow, surrounded by darkness with so many twinkling stars, is for sure an experience to try, but bring with you a blanket if you don’t want to get cold ❄. I would like to know from you if you have ever traveled on a ship, for what destination and what you liked about it. You may suffer seasickness or perhaps not, let me know in the comments.
